SDM worked well as an organizing process, and helped participants to work through some of the complex issues related to climate change adaptation. The workshop process helped different participants work more closely together, fostering a shared understanding of the multiple objectives involved in the decision process. Ultimately, SDM methods provided a critical means to organize the many sources of information relating to climate change adaptation so that planning could be more responsive to stakeholder and First Nation objectives and so that proposals could more easily be developed, evaluated, and implemented. Institutional and political constraints continued to make joint actions a challenge.
